As reported last week, Beck will release an album of sheet music in December. I find the idea and the possibilites absolutely intriguing and genuinely exciting.
Regardless of public opinon as to how innovative or horrible the idea is, I can't stop wondering about all the different lives and personalities the songs will have when the sheet music ignites the imagination of those that purchase the album. Afterall, the whole idea is for fans to bring the songs to life themselves.
Having said that, the first example of a recorded version of one of the tracks from Beck's "Song Reader" album has surfaced. Max Miller commented on an article posted by Will Burns of Forbes.com writing;
"I'm definitely totally excited for this album as well- in fact, I've already recorded a version of 'Do We? We Do' based on the image of the page of sheet music that came out with the press release. You can listen to my version of the new Beck song here: http://soundcloud.com/max_miller/do-we-we-do-rough-preview-page. I hope you like it! And you can be sure that I'll be recording the full album once it drops in December!"
The image of the sheet music used by Max to record is the very same one undercover has attached to promote the articles today and last week. I for one am looking forward to listening to the results.
If any of you undercover.fm readers are keen I'd love to hear what you you come up with. In the meantime check out Max Millers version of " Do We ? We Do" below.
