The classic Acca Dacca toon " It's A Long Way To The Top" will be one of ten songs added to the Australian National Registry of Recorded Sound in 2012.
The National Registry of Recorded Sound was established in 2007. It is the National Film and Sound Archives selection of sound recordings that have a cultural, historical and aesthetic significance and relevance, which inform or reflect life in Australia.
Each year, the Australian public is able to nominate recordings to be added. Final selections are determined by a panel of industry experts and the new additions to the Registry are announced at the end of August. The other additions for 2012 can be found here and include radio sitcoms from the 40' s 50' and 60's , field recordings from the Vietnam war and Jimmy Little's recording " Royal Telephone".
It's A Long Way To The Top is just one of sixty four recordings that have been added to the register since 2007 and kicks off proceedings on the TNT album released in 1975. The track was wirtten by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott.
