Rock n Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Lifetime Achievement award winner Janis Joplin will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013.
Joplin began shining in the late 1960s as the lead singer of acid-rock group "Big Brother and the Holding Company". Later, she spread her wings as a solo artist showcasing a more soulful and bluesy sound with bands like The Kozmic Blues Band and The Full Tilt Boogie Band. She was a standout performer at the Monterey Pop Festival and later became a major attraction at the Woodstock Festival and the Festival Express Train Tour. Sadly her death in 1970 at the age of 27 cut short a career that could have gone anywhere. However, as is usually the case with early death her legend became even greater as a result.
