Muse have been awarded the Best British Band prize, whilst Robbie Williams has claimed the Worst Album honour for 'Rudebox' at this year's NME awards.
Williams, who has had a difficult twelve months struggling with addiction and artistic problems, was widely tipped to take out the least-cherished prize in British music. Whilst a relative commercial success, 'Rudebox' was dealt with savagely by most critics. Interestingly, NME itself awarded the album an 8/10 upon its release. The awards are voted for by NME readers, and were presented at the Hammersmith Palais in London. Arctic Monkeys were the only multiple winners, taking home two awards, for Best Album and Best DVD. Jamie T was declared Best Solo Act, whilst emo overlords My Chemical Romance won Best International Band.
Klaxons - who, with a little help from NME, gave the world its newest made-up genre, namely 'new rave' - were the Best New Band. Synthy rockers Kasabian were awarded Best Live Act, whilst The View won for Best Single.
And media darling Lily Allen didn't go home empty handed - we're sure she's thrilled to have been declared Britain's Worst Dressed musician.
