Last Thursday night whilst driving his taxi, Australian rock n roll legend Blackie of the Hard-Ons was set upon by two assailants.
As a result of the violent attack Blackie sustained a fractured skull requiring sixteen stitches and suffered swelling on the brain. The two thugs (a 14yr old girl and a 16yr old boy )were apprehended by police shortly after the attack.
Although still in hospital Blackie has been removed from intensive care and remains in a stable condition. He has received medical advice that the will not be able to drive for six weeks and there is no news as yet as to when he will be able to play music again. Ray Ahn, his Hard-Ons bandmate has commented "I've known him for many years and I know he wants to get back playing music again as soon as possible, but he will go with medical advice, it's gonna be best to give up playing live for a while, so that he can fully recover and come back fitter than ever....."
If you are a fan and want to send him your best wishes for a smooth recovery you can do so on the Hard-Ons Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/hardons.
Obviously Blackie will also need financial support at this time. If you are in Sydney there will be benefit gigs at The Sando on Wed 23 May and June 1 and June 2. If you can't make it to the shows you are able to donate here http://zombiedogentertainment.com/shop/tickets/help-blackie-get-back-on-his-feet/
Get well soon Blackie!
