Wheatus' debut single 'Teenage Dirtbag' cracked the Top 40 BBC Official Sales Chart for a second time in March of 2011 and this year again in April - TEN YEARS after debuted at #2 on the same chart.
So what went on in those 10 years? Sure, they have been laying low and endured lawsuits, lineup changes, interstate art heist investigations (it's true), betrayals, intellectual property theft and physical violence. Post traumatic front man Brendan B Brown could write a book. However they have been busy with the music too.
Despite not being signed and without managment for 8 years the band have continued to write, record, and tour 15 years after their inception. In a smart move they took cotrol of their revenue stream with the home made, "pick-your-price" download system fans use at Wheatus.com. They have released 5 studio albums since 2000 and are currently in preproduction for album 6. Nice one. Having hit the road in the mid naughties with a new lineup to tour the U.S and U.K, the time has come for Wheatus to travel further afield and will head down-under in September for their ‘Still A Teenage Dirtbag’ tour, supported by local Indie-Pop band Nova & the Experience. Tickets on-sale TODAY the 23rd of April.
