The cream of the Stax era including Booker T. and the MG's, William Bell and Eddie Floyd will perform together at SxSW.
Stax Records is now 50 years old and was recently resurrected by Concord Music to release new music from Angie Stone and Isaac Hayes.Hayes in fact will host the SxSW party on Thursday March 15 at Austin's legendary nightclub Antone's.
The new life of Stax will be launched with a 2CD, 50 song deluxe boxed set 'Stax 50'.
The album features songs by Otis Redding, Booker T & the MGs, Isaac Hayes, The Staple Singers, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas, Johnnie Taylor, Eddie Floyd, William Bell, Sam & Dave , The Dramatics, Little Milton, The Mar-Keys, Mel & Tim, Jean Knight, and The Emotions.
The original site of Stax Records is Memphis is now the Stax Museum of American Soul Music and the Stax Music Academy.
