Telstra have reportedly signed a three year deal with MOG the U.S subscription based music streaming service.
The service will allow users to stream music to their phones, computers and like devices for a fee. No word on what that fee will be as yet, although you can bet it will be competitive with other giant streaming services set to enter the Australia market. Spotify is coming and will join similar services such as Rdio which launched in Australia in January and the industry Songl, built on a partnership between Sony and Universal.
Telstra believe they will have an edge on other streaming services due to the ability to switch from iPhone to tablet automatically. The MOG point of difference is that users are able to stream songs from the catalog via the internet and also download them onto their devices, Spotify also offer this service with their premium package, however most Spotify subscribers have stuck with the current free format where they can listen to the catalogue through their desktop, the only catch being the three adverts broadcast every hour. Having said that Songl, also offer a premium service for $12.99 a month that allows you to cache up to 1000 tracks on your mobile for offline play and includes unlimited streaming from, PC and Mac, iPhone, Android Phone and Sonos.
