Having locked in the prestigious Olympic closing ceremony gig at Hyde Park, it looks like it might be the final gig Blur ever perform.
In an interview with The Guardian Damon Albarn has articulated that he didn't think there would be any more records or shows for Blur and that it was unlikely that The Gorillaz would continue into the future.
Albarn cited the reasons for the Blur situation as not being able to gel in the studio with with bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree, stating " I find it very easy to record with Graham [Coxon]. He's a daily musician. With the other two, it's harder for them to reconnect. You know what I mean? It's fine when we play live – it's really magical still – but actually recording new stuff, and swapping musical influences... it's quite difficult."
As for the Gorillaz, the 2011 rumours of a falling out between Albarn and Jamie Hewlett look like they may have had a leg a to stand on..... Apparently Hewlett is resonsible for the split.
Here is Blur with 1992's Popscene, a song that's as rockin' today as it was twenty years ago.
