Australian singer/songwriter Paul Kelly has written a ditty about cricket legend Shane 'Warne.
Kelly has uploaded 'The Shane Warne Song' for viewing on YouTube. The lyrics start with "Shane Warne, well know to history / Shane Warne, bowler of mystery" but get down and dirty to the Warney scandals with "Mr Warne on his phone sent a lot of text/ 'Cause he liked to have a lot of sex/Took a prohibited pill to lose his love handles/Said mum gave it to me, it was a terrible scandal, I wonder what would Warney do next".
About the song, Kelly says "I was watching this year's Sydney Ashes test on TV around the same time as listening to Lord Kitchener's (aka Aldwyn Roberts) great calypso song 'London Is The Place For Me'. The Kitchener tune suggested to me a new set of lyrics based on the adventures of Shane Warne".
Paul is accompanied by a few friends on the song. "My friend, Andy Doherty, filmed the live recording of the song at my place with Sian Prior playing clarinet and Ray Pereira on congas and djembe. Adam Rhodes engineered it in the shed".
