Turns out that Australian Suzanne Greenway, the coroner that presided over the enquiry into the death of Amy Winehouse was not infact qualified to do the job.
Greenway resigned from her position a month after completing the investigation into the death of Amy Winehouse, which she ruled as death by misadventure. Misadventure indeed. Apparently Greenway had been appointed by her husband Dr Andrew Scott Reid. In order to qualify for the role Greenway would have to have spent 5 years as a solicitor in the Law Society, ( she had spent 2.5 yrs) and also have served 5 years a qualifed medical practitioner (Greenways time as a nurse in Australia did not qualify).
As a result all cases Greeway worked on could potentially be declared illegal, including the case of Amy Winehouse. Greenways husband has admitted that he made an error in her appointment and apologised for any distress caused. This type of apology will not cut it if verdicts recorded by Greenway are challenged in the High Court.
