American blues, soul, rock, jazz and gospel singer Etta James has died at age 73 due to complications from the leukemia with which she was diagnosed in 2010.
In a magnificent career spanning over 50 years Etta James has recorded a diverse catalogue of soul, R&B, blues and jazz. She has influenced a broad spectrum of artists from Janice Joplin to Christina Aguilera with her distinctive and beautiful voice made famous in her recording of theMack Gordon and Harry Warren song "At Last".
In recent years she was ranked number twenty–two on Rolling Stones “100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number sixty–two on the list of “100 Greatest Artists”. Six Grammy’s later and also an inductee into “The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, "The Blues Hall of Fame" and "The Grammy Hall of Fame", Etta James is truly one of the great artists of our time. There is and will ever be, only one Etta James.
