African music legend Youssou Ndour has announced that he will run for the presidency of his home country Senegal in February 2012.
The singer made an announcement in November 2011 that he was taking time out from music in order to focus on politics.
Named by Time magazine in 2007 as one of the world's 100 most influential people, Ndour has continually used his music to deliver political messages. He is also identified as an outspoken critic of current President Wade. Wade is seeking to commence a third term in power regardless of the constiutional two term limit.
