Happy Days. Melbourne has a brand new venue in the form of The Regal Ballroom and it is as spiffy as all get up.
Situated on Northcote Hill the Regal Ballroom has a fabulous history. In 2012 it celebrates it's centenary as a venue. Built in 1912 it is Victoria's oldest cinema building and it was the first cinema in Victoria lit by electricity.
The venue is being launched as a spectacular space to host music, arts projects and functions. It will open on February 3rd 2012 with The DC3 along with ROOT performing, followed by Tex Perkins and The Band of Gold on Friday Feb 17. Check out the gig guide for more shows.
The Regal Ballroom is set to give Melbournians that love to be in a music venue on a Saturday night the added bonus of a two course meal. No Macca's on the way home. Sounds good to me, the surroundings are spiffy and I don't believe the carpet will stick to the soles of your shoes either. Hoorah! This venue will definitely be on my list of " special treat" gigs to go to in 2012.
