Metal gods Mastodon release a teaser trailer and cover art for their next album The Hunter.
The Atlanta band, dubbed prog, sludge and psychedelic metal, have been gaining more and more attention since their 2004 breakthrough album Leviathan.
They’ve toured with big names like Metallica and Slayer, and wowed Australia on the Big Day Out in 2010.
Now they’re firing up for their first album since 2009’s top 20 album Crack The Skye.
It’s called The Hunter in honour of frontman Brent Hind’s brother, who died in a hunting accident.
It was produced by Mike Elizondo (Avenged Sevenfold, Maroon 5, Alanis Morissette) in Atlanta.
The killer cover art is by wood carver AJ Fosik, the first time they’ve used anyone but Paul Romano who created the trippy covers for their other albums.
They’ve also released a teaser for the album, featuring part of the final track on the album ‘Black Tongue’.
The Hunter will be released in October. Check out the trailer below.
