I’ve been listening to streams of the Manzarek Rogers Band, new stuff from The Doors’ keyboard player Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers of Delta Rhythm Kings.
Rogers was a member of John Lee Hooker’s band in the 80s and played on his albums ‘The Healer’, ‘Mr Lucky’ and ‘Chill Out’. In May, 2010 he started work on the ‘Translucent Blues’ album with Ray in Sausalito.
‘Translucent Blues’ has a tinge of Doors but with Rogers’ unmistakable slide.
The songs feature lyrics with poetry references utilizing past works from Warren Zevon and Jim Carroll.
The Manzarek Rogers Band will be performing in Fargo, Minneapolis, Calgary, Sonara and Dallas in coming months.
