Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes will launch Sydney’s newest venue ‘Upstairs Beresford’ tonight and officially open the doors tomorrow.
Justin, the son of fashion gurus Merivale and Mr. John, owns a stable of Sydney’s finest hotels, restaurants and bars with Upstairs Beresford the latest addition.
Upstairs Beresford is modelled on Joe’s Pub in New York.
“With my passion for music, I saw an opportunity for an upmarket LIVE music venue in Sydney,” he said in a statement. “When in New York, I love to spend time in venues such as Joe’s Pub which inspired me to create Upstairs Beresford. I am thrilled with the result and can’t wait to share it with our patrons.”
The interior of the venue has been modeled on 1960’s Australian glam décor, featuring oversized herringbone timber paneling, black terrazzo stone floors and colour palette.
The Hemmes family have owned Merivale for over 45 years. Justin’s parents started the company in the 60s. It quickly became Australia’s most exclusive fashion house.
Justin is also a founder of the Jam Music label and Good Vibrations festivals.
His Sydney based bars include Ivy, Establishment, Hemmesphere and Tank Stream.
