Michael Gudinski swung open the doors to his new venue Trak last night and James Reyne took to the stage to sing in the crowd with songs from his `TCB` album.
In opening the venue Gudinski stated that he had always been about “live music” and now Melbourne has a new venue for artists to perform.Reyne debuted songs from ‘TCB’, his album of Elvis Presley covers.
Guests on the night included Ian 'Molly' Meldrum, MMM's Lee Simon, Billboard's Christie Eliezer, Ross Wilson, Wendy Stapleton, Paul Norton and socialite Linda Freedman.
Gudinski had a fight on his hands to get the permission for the opening of the venue passed through council. Residents in the affluent Melbourne suburb objected to the opening hours.
By the look of the faces in the room last night, Gudinski must have won the fight by simply inviting them all to the opening night party.
Trak is a mid-sized live music venue and will go head to head with the iconic Prince Bandroom in St Kilda and The Forum and The Palace in the City for local and international acts.
