Clarence Clemons friends and family farewelled the E Street Band sax player in a private ceremony in Florida today.
Bruce Springsteen spoke at the service saying, “Clarence was a man of unconditional love, but his love came with a lot of conditions.” He then performed a solo version of ‘Tenth Avenue Freezeout’, the song he wrote about their first meeting.
Jackson Browne was there too and performed his and Clarence’s joint hit ‘You’re A Friend of Mine’ with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
Clemons, who married 5 times, had four of his wives come to the service. One of Clarence’s last wishes was for his current wife Victoria to include “all the special women in his life” and she did.
He also asked that they scatter his ashes at his favourite place in Hawaii.
Clarence Clemons died fro complications following a stroke last Sunday. He was 69.
He is survived by his current wife, nephew, brother, sister and his four sons.
