Trivium Announce Their New "Non-Concept" Album

Florida metal lords Trivium announce their fifth studio effort and insist it isn't a concept album.

The band burst onto the metal scene in 2005 with their second album and Roadrunner Records debut Ascendency, proving to be worthy carriers of the carriers thrash metal banner when Metallica has basically given up.

They then tested their metal mettle by touring with the likes of that old warhorse, as well as the majestic Iron Maiden, the post-Sabbath Heaven & Hell and modern heroes Slipknot.

Three year’s after their Shogun album, Trivium have announced In Waves.

Guitarist and vocalist Matt Heafy says in a press release, “There's no question about it, in our eyes, that this is the most complete project we’ve ever done. We think we’ve finally made the record that we’ve always strived to make.”

While the press release heartily denies that In Waves is a concept album, Hefy does admit they’ve incorporated “the music, the artwork, the videos and the live show; they are all part of an interconnected whole.”

The 13-track album will also come as a deluxe edition, with five extra tracks slotted into the narrative and a 40-minute DVD of the band featuring live, behind-the-scenes and documentary footage.

In Waves will be released on Roadrunner Records on August 5.
