After more than 40 years Buffalo Springfield have played a gig.
After a fall and winter of speculation and announcements, the Buffalo Springfield are finally back, taking the stage on Wednesday night at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA for their first official tour show in just over 43 years.
Reviews have been close to ecstatic on the show, saying that frontmen Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay are playing more like a newly formed band then one who is reviving their music from almost a half-century ago. Also in the band are Joe Vitale on drums and Rick Rosas on bass.
Every song in the set was from the Springfield repertoire, covering seven songs from their debut album (including For What It's Worth which only appeared on an reissued version), six from Buffalo Springfield Again, three from Last Time Around and one from their Box Set. The only non-Springfield song was the closer for the night, Neil Young's Rockin' in the Free World.
Opening for the night was Gillian Welch and her husband David Rawlings.
