The memory of the 1986 Challenger disaster has inspired Mexican born singer/songwriter Elan to call her third album 'What Can Be Done At This Point'.
"The first great disaster of my generation was the Challenger accident in 86" the San Diego based singer tells Undercover News. "It was shocking and sad... on a wider scale than anything I had ever lived. I mean I was only 3... but I could sense it.""So when we finally got the ok to use the audio clip and it takes you through the ultimate human climax of conquering space and seconds later... complete disappearing, and you hear mission control's voice talking about the flight director confirming the explosion and then the man says; "... checking with recovery forces, to see, ah, what can be done at this point..." just described the feeling that I think we all feel in times like these."
"Those words summed it all up. But it's also about the triumph of man. You sometimes must go through hard things to get to better things. It's not about despair... it's about having a greater understanding of who I am and who we are as a band."
The album comes after Elan's best year yet when her song 'This Fool's Life' topped The Telehit Network in Latin America for three months, creating a record run for any music video.
'This Fool's Life' was also the most played video of the forth quarter of 2006 for Undercover, while her current video 'Whatever It Takes' has lodged itself in the Undercover top 10 for the last two months.
'What Can Be Done At This Point' will be released in May.
