Sydney Scores Addams Family Musical Over Melbourne

Sydney has had its first theatre win in years with news that the Addams Family musical will debut in Australia in Sydney in 2013.

Rock Of Ages producer Rodney Rigby is the man behind The Addams Family.

The “macabre musical comedy”, as it is known, has been a hit on Broadway since it opened last year with Nathan Lane as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia. Brooke Shields is about to replace Neuwirth (who was Lilith in Frazier) in the New York production.

Marshall Brickman and Rick Brice (Jersey Boys) wrote the show.

The Australian production will premiere at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in March 2013.
