Denmark's massive alternative festival Roskilde has announced its first two artists.
Taking cues from the grave digging of the Coachella headliners, Roskilde has announced its first two big names and somewhat predictably they are stars of the alternative scene in the '90s.First up are superannuated funk punk stars Red Hot Chili Peppers. They're slated for headlining one of Coachella's nights and they've been drafted in to guarantee tickets for Roskilde. And just announced is Bjork, also a Coachella headliner. The appearance is billed as Bjork's only Scandinavian show of the Northern Hemisphere's summer. Word is she'll be part of Glastonbury as well.
Bjork has been working on a new album with Timbaland, Antony of Antony And The Johnsons, Brian Chippendale of Lightning Bolt, and a handful of world artists. Timbaland has suggested that her new work is best described as hip hop, although he would say that, being the world's most high-profile hip-hop producer.
Roskilde is held between July 5 and July 8 at a site 35km outside Copenhagen and has been long renowned as the biggest European alternative music festival.
