The 2011 Australian Jazz Bell Awards will be handed out tomorrow at the new home at Melbourne’s Regent Plaza Ballroom.
The event will be hosted by Tracey Curro and acknowledge the various sub-categories in jazz no generally given attention at the more hig-profile music awards such as the ARIA Awards.
The Australian Jazz Bell Awards were named after Australian Jazz Legend Graham Bell.
The judges for the 2011 Awards include Albert Dadon, jazz musician and founder of the awards, musician Aaron Searle, Adrian Jackson, artistic director of the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Gerry Koster, producer and presenter of Jazz Up Late in ABC Classic FM, composer Dr Jenny Game-Lopata, Laurence Donohue-Greene, Managing Editor if the New York City Jazz Record, jazz performer Martin Jackson, Michael Tortoni, owner of Bennetts Lane Jazz Club and artistic director of the Melbourne Jazz Festival and Robert Burke, the deputy head of the School of Music at Monash University.
