Australian pianist, composer and educator Tony Gould was inducted into the Qantas Hall of Fame at the Australian Jazz Bell Awards in Melbourne last night.
Gould has performed with Ronnie Scott, Don Burrows, Graham Lyall and John Sangster during his career and guested with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra as well as internationally with the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Dave Brubeck and Sarah Vaughan.
Gould’s albums ‘River Story’ with Peter Petrucci and his Concerto for Saxophones and Orchestra titled The Subtlety of Time both received an ARIA nomination.
Tony Gould performs and lectures at universities in Australia, Asia and the USA.
In 2007 he was awarded the royal honour, the Order of Australia.
In 2010, Jazz legend Bob Barnard was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
