The brand new ‘The Best Of Leon Russell’ album from EMI spans the entire career of the music legend through to his most recent album with Elton John.
Russell is touring Australia for the first time since the 70s this month and is one of the stars of Bluesfest across Easter in Byron Bay.
The Best of Leon Russell features ‘If It Wasn’t For The Bad’ from his 2010 album ‘The Union’ with Elton John and includes his performance of ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash / Youngblood’ from the legendary 1971 The Concert for Bangladesh’ with George Harrison.
Russell hits included are ‘A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall’ and ‘Tight Tope’. His original versions of songs he wrote as hits for others featured included ‘This Masquerade’ (George Benson), ‘A Song For You’ (The Carpenters) and ‘Delta Lady’ (Joe Cocker).
Leon Russell will perform on Bluesfest on April 26 and:
