Mani of Manchester legends The Stone Roses furiously denies that a recent meet-up is a sign of a reunion.
There have been rumours swirling about the band reuniting in 2011, and UK tabloid The Sun fanned the flames by claiming that singer Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire had “buried the hatchet” in pursuit of a “megabucks” reunion.
But this story has been angrily denied by bassist Mani; rightly so as the basis for the story was that the three were seen together at the funeral of his mother.
Mani told NME, "I'm disgusted that my personal grief has been invaded and hijacked by these nonsensical stories."
"Two old friends meeting up after 15 years to pay their respects to my mother does not constitute the reformation of The Stone Roses. Please fuck off and leave it alone. It isn't true and isn't happening."
The Stone Roses broke up in 1996 after only two albums. Mani has since been playing in Primal Scream, and Brown and Squire have been releasing solo albums.
