The man who wrote, recorded, produced and directed the Rebecca Black phenomena is “vanity label” boss Patrice Wilson.
European born Wilson is a failed pop star who moved to the United States and created Ark Music Factory, an all-you-can eat label for hire for kids who want to record a song and play popstar for a day.
However, Wilson’s most recent ‘Popstar for a Day’ was Rebecca Black and the song he wrote called ‘Friday’ made her an internet sensation despite being hailed as “the worst song ever”.
Wilson charges between $2000 and $4000 for a complete package that includes the song, recording and the video. He even starred in the video, playing Black’s driver.
Ark Music Factory was created because Wilson wanted to give kids an experience in music that was ‘Clean”, ‘Safe” and “Fun”.
The Black thing has given his company its first taste of success. All he wants to do now is “find another one”.
