A bizarre plea deal offered in Willie Nelson’s drug trial might see him singing in court as “community service”.
TMZ reports that the prosecutor in Willie Nelson’s marijuana possession case would include an in-court rendition of ‘Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain’ as “community service”, in addition to a $100 fine, as a plea deal.
The Hudspeth County Attorney C.R. “Kit” Bramblett even said to CNN “You can bet your ass I’m not going to be mean to Willie Nelson”.
Nelson was charged with misdemeanour marijuana position last November when Texan border patrol officers found the drug on his tour van.
While a date for the trial has not been set, the Judge Dean-Walker has spoken about the deal, saying, “My court is not a jester court. I understand that people are star stuck, I’m not one of them.”
So Nelson’s fate remains in the hands of the judge, and he could face a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
