Luckily for Willie Nelson, it looks like the Border Patrol agents in Sierra Blanca, Texas are a bit bad at estimating the weight of some marijuana. Nelson was arrested last Friday for the possession of an estimated six ounces of pot after his tour bus was stopped and the smell of the drug came from the bus.
Six ounces would have been a felony charge and, with Nelson's past record, could have meant jail time. Earlier today, Willie was only charged with a misdemeanor after the official weight only came up to four ounces. That means, if found guilty, he will receive a fine but there will be jail time involved.
According to Rolling Stone, it was questionable whether there would have been jail even if it had gone over the six ounce limit. According to Texas attorney Dick DeGuerin, the Border Agents overstepped their authority as they are only supposed to be checking for illegal aliens.
The best quote, though, came from Nelson's harmonica player Mickey Raphael. "He said he feels great ... he lost six ounces."
