‘The King of Luck’, the Billy Bob Thornton directed documentary about Willie Nelson will debut at SXSW in Austin, Texas on March 19.
The movie was shot over 2009 and 2010 when Nelson and Thornton were on tour together. Thornton also front the country / rockabilly band The Boxmasters.
‘The King of Luck’ is a behind the scenes look at Willie Nelson’s life on the road. According to info on the movie his is a documentary about Willie Nelson: the man, the songwriter, the friend, the father, legendary performer and champion of the family farmer. It goes further, however, as a film, it is about the end of the old west and how troubadours such as Willie Nelson keep the legend alive through storytelling”.
The movie was directed by Billy Bob Thornton, produced by Harvey Cook and Kristin Scott and features the Willie Nelson family Willie Nelson, Annie Nelson, Paula Nelson, Amy Nelson, Lana Nelson, Lukas Nelson, Micah Nelson, Bobbie Nelson, Paul English, Bee Spears.
