The long-awaited fourth album from The Strokes tops a refreshed ARIA Album Chart this week.
It seems that the fans haven’t forgotten about The Strokes; their fourth album and first in five years, Angles, has debuted at number one on this week’s ARIA Album Chart.
But this was just the beginning, almost half of the top ten are new entries.
Despite, or maybe because of, Chris Brown’s recent antics, his latest album F.A.M.E. stormed into the number three slot.
The next two were big surprises: the third album Vices & Virtues from US emo-pop act Panic! At The Disco hit number six and the second album The Great Impression from Sydney alternative pop craftsman Sparkadia came in at number eight.
Despite the rearranged top ten, there’s a big gap until the final two new entries for the week: The Essential Weird Al Yankovic at 45 and Ke$ha’s Remix Album at 46.
All the hustling by the Foo Fighters this week has seen their Greatest Hits re-enter the charts at 32, and touring helped Neil Diamond’s Greatest Hits back into the charts at 44.
The big kicker this week is Hillsong United’s Aftermath rocketing up the charts from 46 last week to 16 this week.
Nice to see newer entries Elbow, Lupe Fiasco and Rise Against holding positions pretty well.
The big drop came from country star Alan Jackson, who slipped from 7 last week to 22 with his Number Ones album.
