Sarah Mclachlin has decided, after last year’s aborted revival, that Lilith Fair is done and dusted.
The singer-songwriter and organiser of the largest femme-fronted festival has told Canada’s Globe And Mail that she won’t give Lilith Fair another shot.
Last year’s attempt to revive the ‘90s female-centric festival throughout the US was a bit of a catastrophe, with cancellations of both entire events and individual artists, as well as unsure line-ups, drastic ticket discounts and patchy refunds.
Mclachlan now says, “It’s done. And that’s okay. It’s actually a really good thing,”
She recalled that the first run of festival was “a beautiful organic event that happened at a point in time when it was really needed” but concedes that women have changed in their expectations and the “way they view the world”.
So the dream is over.
