Details emerge about roots and soul hero Ben Harper’s tenth album, which features Ringo Starr and Jackson Browne.
The double-Grammy winner will release his new album, Give Till It’s Gone, on May 13.
The first single, ‘Rock N Roll Is Free’, will be released digitally on March 14. Harper wrote the song straight after opening for Neil Young in London, directly inspired by his performance of ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’.
Give Till It’s Gone is Harper’s first true solo album since 2006’s Both Sides Of The Gun, recorded at Jackson Browne’s Los Angeles studio, and features Browne on the song ‘Pray That Our Love Sees The Dawn’.
The eleven-track album also features two songs co-written by Ringo Starr, who plays drums on both.
Harper will be in Australia in May for two performances at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest and one in New Zealand for Manukau’s GrassRoots Festival.
