The reissue of Fleetwood Mac’s classic Rumours almost trumps Adele on this week’s ARIA Chart.
Despite the album already going platinum thirteen times over, it seems that there are some people in this country who don’t have a copy of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours – probably tweenage Glee fans who heard the classics in a recent episode.
Either way, the reissue was the only thing threatening Adele’s continued dominance at the top of the ARIA Charts, as it rocketed back from obscurity into second spot.
Also new in the top twenty were Ben Harper’s Give Till It’s Gone at number nine, The Lonely Island’s musical comedy album Turtleneck & Chain at 15 and Fleet Foxes follow-up Pala at 19.
Some more albums lucked into the top 50 on debut. Oz hip-hopper Vents made the most of the Hilltop Hoods connection to get Marked For Death to number 25, Oz folk legends The Seekers had a Greatest Hits in at 31, Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi disappointed, with Rome at a measly 38, Trial Kennedy’s Living Undesigned snuck in at 48, and Seether popped in at 50 with Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray.
Nice to have a little action in the charts after last weeks snoozefest. It was a good week for the girls - Adele’s first album 19 even got a boost from 27 to 14, and Rihanna and Jessie J climbed back into the top ten.
Otherwise, it was mostly albums dipping post-Mother’s Day. Ronan Keating’s Burt Bacharach love-in dropped out of the top ten, as did k.d. lang and J-Lo, and Buble dropped from 10 to 35.
