Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman is pulling out of forthcoming shows due to necrotising fasciitis.
Befitting the overarching brutality of Slayer, Hanneman has contracted the flesh-eating condition necrotising fasciitis, most likely caused by a spider bite.
He will have to pull out of their forthcoming shows to have surgery and recover.
The band will be getting a fill-in guitarist for their shows, which include their Soundwave sets.
Their other guitarist Kerry King said in a statement, “After everything that’s happened we all agreed that we just can’t let our fans down again.”
He continued, “Jeff is totally on board with the decision, so we will tour as planned. We can’t pinpoint what day he’ll be back, but it will be as soon as he possibly can. We can’t wait for him to get better and get his ass back on the road.”
So metal. Get well, Jeff.
