675 Million Downloads Sold In 2006

In 2006, more than 675 million downloads were sold around the world, according to new statistics from Nielsen SoundScan International.

The figures were compiled from 170 download services operating in 17 countries Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

More than 81 million sales were Pan-European digital sales and almost 600 million downloads came from the North American market.

Gnarls Barkley had the biggest selling download of 2006 in Europe.
