As Melbourne's music scene became too cool for school, the kids from the southern part of Australia didn't notice some of the country's best talent coming from their northern brothers.
In the midst of Wolfmother and Youth Group, Sarah Blasko spawned a softer, gentler approach to the alternative sound dominating the airwaves. Her first album 'The Overture and The Underscore' was universally acclaimed and saw Blasko appear all over her home country.
The daughter of island missionaries, Blasko inherited a calm and innocent vibe that hypnotizes her audiences.
Her sound is completely unique and instantly recognizable, barely fitting into any genre (yes, I know, clich?? of the century, right?) and manages to have pop hits and art-fuelled soundscapes in three minutes.
'What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have' was Blasko's second album, which veered away from the pop influence and turned into a single story comprised of three minute chapters that expand on an earlier idea.
Blasko is one of the most unique artists to emerge from Australia in many years.
