‘I Awake’, is the forthcoming release from Sarah Blasko. On Oxford Street in Sydney's Darlinghurst, fans will be given the opportunity to experience the new work at an intimate Album Installation.
I remember going to installations as a student. I have one word to describe them. Wank. Anyhoo, Sarah Blasko's installation may provide you with something more nourishing. If there is music involved it can't help but raise the common expectation of a wanky installation to greater heights of enlightenment. Will there be a leaf in a corner of the room stuck to the ground with a pile of possum dung? Maybe, but I can pretty much guarantee it won't be there on purpose to ask the question " Is the unexamined life worth living? "
I digress, open from Thursday the 18th of October through to Friday the 26th of October, one and all are welcome to drop in to the Album Installation and listen to 'I Awake' prior to its release. Along with the album, visitors will enjoy imagery from the album and a short film by director Mike Daly, which is set against a soundtrack of songs from 'I Awake'. Sounds like a fun party already, do not be scared by the word installation. Lucky punters will also be treated to a performance or two by Blasko herself over the period so if you are keen, keep your eye on the following social media, watch @sarahblasko or head to facebook.com/sarahblaskomusic .
Sarah Blasko's 'I Awake' will be released via Dew Process / UMA on October 26, 2012.
