Emo icons the Get Up Kids are reunited and have announced a new album and tour.
The band rocketed to stardom in the late-‘90s, playing shows with Green Day and Weezer and helping define the early stirrings of emo with their peppy but heartfelt indie punk.
The 1999 album Something To Write Home About is a modern classic of the genre, up there with Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity.
But by 2005, following the release the previous year of their Guilt Show album, the band were burnt out and broke up.
Last year they regained the magic and got together again for triumphant return shows and tours.
And they’ve once again hit the studio, with the forthcoming There Are Rules album set for release on January 25 next year.
They’ve also booked an extensive US tour to follow it up, so it looks like the Get Up Kids are back up to speed.
