Popular artists providing scores to film could well be the new black, with The Roots being the latest to take the challenge for the upcoming film ‘Night Catches Us’.
The film is a drama set in Philadelphia, 1976 and tells the story of Marcus (Anthony Mackie), a one-time Black Panther who returns to the city after mysteriously moving away for several years only to find himself conflicting with his family and friends and the organisation he was once a part of.
The soundtrack once again proves The Roots to be one of the most skillful groups in the world today and is sure to leave you wondering how the hell they manage to fit in so many projects.
Aside from being the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, they have also released two albums - one being an album of soul covers featuring John Legend on vocals - and now they have scored this film.
Perhaps even more remarkable is that everything they release is all killer, no filler.
