The Australian BBQ at SxSW in Austin, Texas this year will not only feature sausage sangers but also Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I, Airbourne, The Beasts of Bourbon, Dallas Crane and Children Collide.
The Aussie BBQ is one of the must attend events each year at SxSW.The Australian Music Collective, fuelled by organizers Glenn Dickie, Johanna Greenway and Mary Mihelakos, have been putting on the event and compiling the line-up for the last 5 years.
The work of the Australian Music Collective and also Immedia's Phil Tripp has been integral to raising the awareness of Australian acts at SxSW, the world's biggest music conference.
SxSW is held each year in Austin and draws more than 10,000 attendees worldwide. More than 1000 bands showcase over 4 nights in about 60 venues in the Texan city.
This year's Aussie BBQ is the strongest line-up ever. Previous years have featured the Living End, Missy Higgins, John Butler Trio and Powderfinger.
In 2006, The Australian Music Collective expanded their US presence by also showcasing some of the Australian acts in Los Angeles and New York. In 2007, dates will be forthcoming for the sideshows at The Troubadour in Los Angeles and The Mercury Lounge in New York as well as the addition of a London show.
The Australian BBQ Showcase at SxSW will once again be held at Brush Square Park, Austin, Texas on March 16, 2007.
