The photographs of rock photographer Tony Mott will be on exhibition at the RAW Gallery in South Melbourne from this Friday (November 26, 2010).
Mott started his career in Sydney in the early 80s and has become one of the best-known names in music photography in Australia.
UK born Mott moved to Sydney from Sheffield in 1981. He started to document the unknown bands he would go to see. One of those unknown acts at the time was Divinyls. Divinyl’s manager Vince Lovegrove chose one of those photos for a tour poster and Mott’s professional career was underway.
He has since had his photos grace over 450 album covers, 700 magazines and he has been published in 20 countries.
Mott has toured with and captured The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond.
The RAW Gallery will exhibit Mott’s photos of Nirvana, Queen, The Stones and U2 as well as Divinyls from Friday.
Mott will also host a book signing for his latest book ‘Rock N Roll Photography Is The New Trainspotting – A Retrospective Of Work From The Last 30 Years’ on Saturday from 1pm at the RAW Gallery.
The exhibition is on until December 22, 2010 but closed on Mondays.
