The first single from Dr Dre’s long-awaited album features Snoop Dogg and doped-out rhymes.
Dr Dre’s Detox has slowly turned into the Chinese Democracy of the hip-hop world, but finally the first single, ‘Kush’, has been released.
It already sounds like his classic stuff, with Dre and Snoop dropping verses about smoking the herb across a slow-rolling West Coast beat, piano and vocoder loop chorus and a little sing-song interlude from Akon.
He spoke to Radio Big Boy about the song: “The content it’s about weed and smoking and I don’t want people to think that's what my album is about, this is actually the only song with that type of content in it.”
Detox has been over a decade in the making, and Dr Dre has said it will be his final album.
It’s tentatively scheduled for release early next year.
