80s new wave band Orange Juice are going to be remembered by Domino Records in the form of a six disc box set.
The band formed in 1979 led by a very young Edwyn Collins who later on went on to have a reasonably successful solo career.
The box will comprise of six CDs and one DVD that will contain the band’s complete discography, various other studio recordings, a collection of their BBC sessions, the only two clips the band made (‘Rip It Up’ and ‘What Presence?!’, the band’s four performances on ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ and the concert film ‘Dada With (The) Juice’, recorded after their 1985 breakup.
‘Coals To Newcastle’ contains 16 previously unreleased tracks and 23 tracks previously unavailable in any digital form.
The band formed in Glasgow in 1979 under the name The Nu-Sonics. After their debut album ‘You Can’t Hide your Love Forever’ (released through Polydor) guitarist James Kirk and drummer Steven Daly left to be replaced by Malcom Ross and Zeke Manyika respectively.
They went on to record three more albums, ‘Rip It Up’ (1982), ‘Texas Fever’ (1984) and ‘The Orange Juice’ (1984).
‘Coals To Newcastle’ will be released in Australia on November 5 through Domino/EMI.
