Short Stack fans broke rank in the past week and purchased 4357 physical CD singles nationally of the band’s new song ‘Planets’.
With the physical CD single almost a extinction, the sales of the physical CD alone for Short Stack would have placed ‘Planets’ in the Top 30 but with digital sales added, the single debuted at number 4 on this week’s ARIA chart.
By comparison, the number two physical CD single, ‘Magic Fountain EP’ by Art vs. Science sold 100 copies, and the number 40 single by Green Day ‘Know Your Enemy’ sold 5 copies nationally.
Of the entire Australian Top 40 chart nationally this week, only seven songs are available on CD and they are all through Sony Music.
They are Usher feat. Pitbull ‘DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love’ at 6, Adam Lambert ‘If I Had You’ at 25, Stan Walker ‘Choose You’ at 31, Usher ‘OMG’ at 33, Train ‘Hey Soul Sister’ at 35 and Justice Crew ‘And Then We Dance’ at 39.
