Rihanna, Short Stack, Human Nature and some interesting compilations appear in this week’s new releases.
We’re predicting Rihanna’s Loud, Short Stack’s second album This Is Bat Country and Human Nature latest cover effort Vegas: Songs From Sin City will battle it out for the highest sales of albums released today.
Pink’s Greatest Hits… So Far, Keith Urban’s Get Closer and Ronan Keating’s Duets should also do well, alongside Josh Groban’s Illuminations, Kid Rock’s Born Free and Norah Jones’ Featuring…
More interesting releases include US backpack rap star Kid Cudi’s Man On The Moon 2: Legend Of Mr. Rager, Weezer’s b-sides and rarities effort Death To False Metal and London-based Melbournians Gypsy And The Cat with Gilgamesh.
Two ambitious local compilations were released today as well.
The Key Of Sea is a multi-national collaborative effort, featuring Tim Rogers, Sarah Blasko, Katie Noonan, The Cat Empire and more each collaborating with migrant artists from such diverse countries as Chile, Eritrea, Poland and Iraq.
Also, the Finn brothers cover album He Will Have His Way follows up the all-girl version with blokes like The Living End’s Chris Cheney, Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Glenn Richards of Augie March and Dan Sultan fronting The Break.
The Christmas run-up continues with Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas II You and an updated version of Kate Ceberano’s Merry Christmas.
And, of course, today saw the release of a stack of Hits of the Year, floorfiller, and BBQ track compilations.
