The Cumberland Hotel near London’s famed Park Lane has set up a shrine to Jimi Hendrix in the room that he lived in at the time of his death.
The shrine has been set up to mark the 40th anniversary of his untimely death, on September 18, 1970.The shrine is a Hendrix-inspired suite full of psychedelic patterns, an original 60s printed panel by Mariji Isola and framed originals of NME covers featuring the guitarist.
There is also a three metre Hendrix mural made by graphic designer Andie Airfix.
The hotel, which is run by the Guoman Group, will donate ten pounds from the cost of each night's stay in the room to The Hendrix Foundation, which helps deprived children learn to play musical instruments.
