Queen have edged out The Beatles in a another 'greatest band ever' poll, this time conducted by BBC Radio in the UK.
The eclectic rockers found themselves 400 votes ahead of The Beatles, in a poll of over 20,000 listeners. Respondents were asked to rate five bands, the others being The Rolling Stones, Oasis and Take That, who finished third through fifth respectively.Queen's virtually unquestionable reputation as one of the finest live acts in rock history helped get them over the line, with respondents asked to vote in categories such as showmanship and live performances, as well as lyrics, songwriting and originality.
Undercover's resident psychic, Serena, claims she was able to communicate with the late Freddie Mercury about the result. He reportedly told her, "Darling, let me tell you that over the course of 2007, some 8,942 different acts will be declared the 'greatest band ever' in various time-filling radio polls. Now leave me alone, Mr Lennon lost the bet and owes me a wax."
